Yesterday in Melbourne, ministers Conroy and Plibersek announced the roll-out of a $20.6million telehealth pilot. The announcement was at the NBN demonstration site, including members of the Australian telehealth community and a live demonstration of a team health for oncology (including John Wilson) via video conferencing.
The demonstration included a remote coordinator, practitioner and oncologist and the patient – four simultaneous high-definition video streams and sharing of tomography scans live in the video discussion. The patient (Chris) demonstrated live updating of his personally controlled health record with heart rate and spirometry measurements conducted during the conversation.
More details are available from the NBN site
